What's happening in Melbourne

Melbourne is the capital of Victoria. For travellers, there is a huge range of things to do, places to explore and tours to take to enjoy fantastic travel experiences.

Anyone contemplating a visit to Melbourne needs to be aware that Melbourne is cold during Spring, Winter and Autumn. Not snow and ice type cold just cold with little rain. Ironically some of the sunniest days are in winter because Melbourne does not usually have a high rainfall each year.

So, if you like sun and surf with lots of outdoor activities at the beach, then make sure that you go in Summer. Melbourne comes alive in Summer with sporting events, festivals and things to do. People can get outdoors and have fun. In winter, getting outdoors at the beach offers the benefit of having the beach to yourself.

Melbourne has a cosmopolitan city centre with lots of intimate walking tours, restaurants, theatres ( live not movies ) and concerts.

Adventure travellers can head to the nearby snowfields in Winter. Allow a 4 hour drive. Notable places to visit are the Mornington Peninsula, The Bellarine Peninsula with the iconic Great Ocean Road leading to Lorne and The 12 Apostles coastal park. Those looking to see evidence of the gold rush boom towns of the 1800's can take a drive for a couple of hours to Bendigo or Ballarat. From Bendigo, it is not far to the historic river port of Echuca which was once the key transport hub on the Murray River.

There are many things to see and do in and around Melbourne. Take a bit of time to research all the options. It is worth visiting even if it is off the Sydney Cairns backpacker circuit.

Chocoholic Tour of Melbourne

Chocolate. Couldn’t you just say that it’s the international food of love? It’s the culinary equivalent of a smile. We demonstrate appreciation with it, seduce with it, apologise with it and find solace in it when our hearts get bruised. Yes, civilisation has succumbed to the power it wields and we’re delighted to indulge your enjoyment of it further still.
