Talisker or Lagavulin

Wine, Whiskey, Beer, tequila, all of these are different forms of alcohol and each one is consumed for different occasions, most of the time. Wine is typically for a night out when the wife or someone close to you wants to do something romantic. Beer and tequila are typically used for social drinking during parties and other events where there will be a lot of people there. Whiskey can be used on many different occasions, whether it is for social drinking or a night out with someone special. When it comes to whiskey there are two that typically are used the most, Lagavulin and Talisker. Lagavulin is actually a very known and popular whiskey that has been seen and used on television for a while now. Most people know of the character Ron Swanson, from Parks and Recreation. However, the Whiskey is not just famous and known for being shown on television on multiple occasions.
Lagavulin has officially partnered with Offerman and because of that, they have come out with a new delicious and aged whiskey. This whiskey still has the same taste and signature style as it used to. Once it partnered and started working with Offerman, Offerman has enhanced the flavors by adding a couple of spices that help bring out the flavor of the whiskey that much more. Typically when you drink and consume Lagavulin whiskey it gives off this scent of fruitiness with a strong hint of whatever spice has been added to that specific whiskey. Whenever anyone drinks Whiskey the whiskey is aged for a considerable amount of time. The normal time for a whiskey to be aged depends on the person. Typically you can start to see the whiskey change color and get its darker color within the first week or two. However, to get the flavor and the taste that you want most whiskey is aged from a few months to a year. However, most whiskey lovers age their whiskey from about three to five years to get that exact flavor they are looking for. The reason Lagavulin Offerman Edition tastes so delicious is that it has been aged 11 years. Lagavulin is a very fine-aged whiskey that gives it the right amount of that smoky flavor that compliments the fruitiness of the whiskey.
Earlier I said that Whiskey can be drunk during parties or a date night with someone who is special to you. Well if someone was to get Lagavulin Offerman Edition with their food the best dish they could get that would best compliment the Whiskey is either a 16 ounce T-bone steak. The smokiness and the saltiness of the steak will not only enhance the smokiness of the whiskey which will accentuate the fruity flavor in the whiskey. A cigar with this meal would be the best combination, but that is more of a suggestion and it does not have to be taken literally. Lagavulin Offerman Edition is not like other whiskey's. When it comes to Talisker, however, that is a different story.
Talisker, unlike Lagavulin, is not very well known around the world. It is a well-known drink for those who are in a certain club. This however does not mean that the whiskey is not good. Most people who drink whiskey do it for causal reasons and out at parties. Very few people drink whiskey for the taste. Those who do are in the know and they know everything there is to know about Talisker. Talisker has a very calming and beautiful look to it. With the same deep golden honey color apple juice. Not only does it look like Apple Juice, but it also has a certain smoky, oily, accent that can also be paired with whiffs of green apple. Giving the drinker a symphony of scents each time they bring the whiskey up for a drink. Just like every other whiskey it still has that strong smoky flavor that hits you after you have swallowed it. This may not sound very pleasant but it is very good and it allows the palate to taste flavors where even though they should contact, they don't they actually are very compatible.
One thing that Talisker has that very few malts or whiskeys have is the added taste. Talisker has a very smoky taste as well as a hint of green apple. However, even with that said there is a little added flavor to Talisker when a very uncommon partner is added to it. Water is added to Talisker that not many whiskeys have. When you add just a few drops of water to Talisker it opens up a new slew of flavors. Not only does the pepper and the peat in the whiskey become more rounded and not as strong as they used to be. But the whiskey itself becomes almost milky in a sense and it becomes sweeter. The smokiness in the whiskey before the few drops of water is added is less concentrated and the sweetness seems to be the main focus after the water is added. Another thing that helps with the taste of the Whiskey is the fact that Talisker is aged for ten years, twice what the normal aging time is for any whiskey.
Whiskey is much like wine in the sense that it takes time for it to be as good as it can be. It cannot be rushed and it is one thing that is definitely worth waiting for. However, many whiskeys are very strong and very few of them are able to have two contrasting flavors in fruit and smokiness. This is why these two whiskeys are very unique and taste very good. Talisker and Lagavulin have both been aged beyond the normal aging point and they both have the fruity flavor that contrasts with the smokiness. But the one that is better is Lagavulin. Lagavulin can be paired with your food accentuating the food's flavor. It doesn't need something else to make it better, but can make food better.
