room81 Awarded Two Chef Hats

  • Written by Janelle Neeve

Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach's chic restaurant, room81, has been awarded Two Chef Hats by Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG), at their recent award ceremony.

Receiving the two Chef Hats was a rich reward for Chef Sam Moore and the room81 team following the successful delivery of their unique degustation concept to the Gold Coast market.

room81 now sits in the top echelon of 'Hatted' Gold Coast restaurants, with only three other restaurants in the region holding Two Hats.

The AGFG review and accolade marks an amazing 12 months in the kitchen for Sam, and a realization of an ambitious vision conceived over 18 months ago where he dared his team to raise the bar and strive for excellence, ultimately taking the leap from one hat to two.

Chef Sam says “The challenge was set, and the team delivered an amazing result. My degustation concept is quite unique given the complexity of cooking techniques and flavours. To receive Two Hats from AGFG is an honour and my proudest moment so far as a Chef.”

Chef de Cuisine Sam Moore's career has spanned many cities, honing his craft in Sydney and Melbourne's busy restaurant scene and some of Europe's best kitchens. Prior to room81, Sam worked at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins' signature restaurant 'No. 35' and before that Sydney favourites Pier and No41 Chifley Place.

Discover the Two Hat multicourse journey across five, seven or nine courses at room81. The degustation experience features delicious taste blasts using refreshing local ingredients. Room81 is open Tuesday to Saturday from 4pm until late. Bookings essential – (07) 5592 2250 or visit room81.com.au or sofitelgoldcoast.com.au.
