No Pong: More effective for personal freshness than spray deodorants

  • Written by Clair Carter

A funny thing about personal deodorants is that most of them have a distinctive smell that announces to everyone within nose reach that the wearer has an odour issue. With a bit of experience, you can pick the brand. In some ways, it is like putting a high visibility band-aid on a pimple. You can't see the pimple but you know that it is there.

There are times when it is best to avoid rubbing or spraying chemicals into sensitive parts of a human body. Nature or an intelligent creator, has done a pretty good job designing our bodies. They have worked very well for a long time: maybe millions of years. Perspiration has a purpose and chemical signals contained in the organic chemicals that we exude are pretty important. That said, there are times when we are required to "not smell".

Take this Tweet from an Australian woman living in England.

Boarding a packed tram is indeed a time and place where you need to have taken odour precautions.

No Pong is not an aluminium oxide based spray on layer product.

No Pong is not a large pressure pack can that you may find is not allowed on airline carry on luggage.

No Pong fits into any handbag or pocket.

No pong worked.

We tried a free trial sample of NO Pong for two weeks. Here are some impressions.

No pong is like a soft waxy paste. A little of the product can be removed from the circular tin with a finger or two before being spread around an arm pit, for instance. No Pong has a citrus like note that does not announce "Beware of smelly person trying to cover it up". All anyone on the crowded tram would notice is a hint of lemon with the version we used. ( Not the Royal "We" but two of us ! )

No Pong with its waxy fluid base may indeed create a layer that blocks pores for a while but it does more. It is the perfume you wear when you do not want to wear spray on deodorants.

For women, it will not compete with real fragrances. It is in the background when required leaving the intended perfume to do its work.

Conclusion

No Pong is effective. Better to use No Pong for subtle protection or concealment than spray can delivered products that announce themselves. Maybe that is the intention with spray on personal deodorants. They are intended to have a characteristic smell so that people will buy them because other people do.

No Pong simply hides or prevents unpleasant odours while at the same time offering a subtle pleasant scent.

We will buy it when the sample runs out.
